New Orleans Mission Trip

Corner Bar Fundraiser

January 23, 2012

We are taking a group of people from RUMC to New Orleans. We will be teaming with two additional Virginia churches and meeting them to build a home in New Orleans. This Mission began in 2006 as a way for people to assist Hurricane Katrina Victims.  Our first few years, we gutted, cleaned and re-furbished homes.  Now, we are building new construction  We will be teaming with a church and Habitat for Humanity while in New Orleans. Volunteers will get a chance to bond with fellow Christians from MI, VA and LA! Volunteers will have opportunities to work on homes, meet homeowners, tour New Orleans and eat well! We will be working 5 days (Tuesday-Saturday).  Orientation is on Monday and we worth with homeowners on Saturday.   It's a 2 day drive down and back.  Some will take the church van, others will travel on their own.

We fund raise in several ways to support this trip:

  • An annual Bread Pan offering
  • Annual Luncheon/Auction
  • portion of the Pasty Sales
  • Annual dinner at the Corner Bar, Rockford, MI
  • Personal Donations to the New Orleans Mission Fund

Other ways you can help:

  • Hand made items may be donated to the silent auction
  • Provide snacks for our work crew during the trip
  • Pray for a successful trip
  • Use Devotional Packet to pray in detail for the trip.
